Alright ladies and gents, the school year is just around the corner if it hasn’t started for you already. My brother and sisters are starting on Monday and they are not too thrilled that they have to start the school year sooner than their big sister (me). I still have almost a whole month before I go back to school (yay for the college life!). While I start later and end sooner, that just means I have to put more time and energy and focus into the semester.
We all have different ways with how we stay on top of things and how we manage our time/schedules. Let me throw it out there: I am absolutely horrible with time management, definitely not one of my strong suits when it comes to school. So how do I manage it? More so going into a university where things will be a tad bit harder?
“And then I hear singing… Before the dragging. Before the screaming.” – Penny, The Bargaining
I am not a fan of scary, creepy, thrilling, or suspenseful books. I very much prefer books in the Fictional/Paranormal/Young Adult/Romance genre. I am a hopeless romantic who loves fantasy and mythical creatures so those genres call to me, like a siren calling a sailor. However, while browsing in the book section of Walmart one day, the cover to The Bargaining drew me in (though I ended up purchasing it at a Barnes & Noble). The simplicity and detail of the girl in the woods is eye-catching, as well as the fine printed “The North Woods are calling…”
While eyes are the window to the soul, for a lady, the contents of her bag are the key…
My grandma used to get mad when we would go through someone’s purse, so one day I asked her why. Here’s what she told me, “You can tell a lot about a woman by what she carries in her purse. It’s like all her secrets are right there in her bag; she takes that bag where she needs to go and inside are things that are important to her. Not you. You never go through someone’s belongings, they’re not yours. Oh, and never let a guy look through it. He doesn’t need to know your secrets.”
“It’s pointless. Cards don’t have ears. And I no longer have a head.”
– Alyssa Gardner, Splintered
We all know of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and we’ve seen Disney’s classic animation as well as the movie with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter; but what if Wonderland wasn’t as wonderful as Carroll and Disney portrayed it to be?
One of my favorite pastimes is reading. I absolutely LOVE reading, being able to enter another world is an amazing feeling. You can direct YOUR VERY OWN movie when you read, how much cooler can that get?! Sure the author gives you the descriptions of the characters and places, but YOU can choose what they look like, how they sound, where they are, and so much more! Think about it for a second, just a second; whichever book you decide to read, someone else is reading the exact same book… BUT they are imagining every little detail you are completely different than you are! Maybe the author pictured every detail differently than you too, yet it’s the same book!
