That one beatiful holiday that celebrates the joyous feeling of love and romance is right around the corner. Yes, I’m talking about Valentine’s Day, but you knew that already. I’m going to guess that many of you have some big plans that day.
Valentine’s Day was one of the best holidays growing up. As kid everyone was your valentine and you always had some little classroom party to look forward to at the end of the day. But now? No more Valentine parties, that’s for sure.
My plans this Valentine’s Day are to, unfortunately, study for all my upcoming tests and maybe binge watch a couple of movies with my roommate. We recently watched Pride & Prejudice and oh my god let me tell you how awesome and romantic that movie is. It’s perfection in a nut shell and Mr. Darcy, well Mr. Darcy is another story for another time…
With that said, here’s a sneak peak on ways to my heart:
Books, plain and simple. I live and breath books, they are the best way to my heart.
Coffee or tea, either or is fine by me. Sipping this hot beverage any time of day is relaxing and something I’ll always love.
Clichés. I know that’s so lame, but being a hopeless romantic makes me love most of those cheesy clichés we all dislike so much.
Staying in and having a movie day! It’s fun and romantic, plus I’ve recently learned that cuddle helps keep you healthy.
Shooting, take me out to the shooting range. It’s almost as great as taking me to a bookstore!
Those are just a few ways to my heart. Now tell me how to get to yours!
“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the imagination, flight to the imagination, and life to everything” – Plato
Who here hates moving? The packing and the driving and the unpacking and the reorganizing? Just the first two drive me bonkers, the last two aren’t so bad.
So recently, very recently actually, I signed a lease with a friend and moved to a small townhouse much closer to school. I’m very excited! I no longer have to wake up before the sun. An hour more of sleep makes a big difference.
So I was able to move all in one day and all in one trip. My darling cousin was kind enough to to offer his truck for all my big stuff; bed, desk, drawers, two bookshelves, you know the important stuff. (Though we were not able to get the box spring upstairs when it came time to unload everything.)
My Mom’s little Xterra held all my clothes and blankets because well they just wouldn’t fit in my car because my car was packed tight with all my books. Seriously, look: (more…)
Well the first week of school was a success!! I’ve my planner and calendar ready to be filled with assignments. This semester I’m on campus three days a week, two whole days and one half day. So far (yes I know the semester just started) I’m loving my classes! How are you liking your classes? Plan on dropping any?
So I have a few goals for this semester, not just for the new year ? They’re pretty simple and straight forward. Here they are:
“Creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence.” – Osho
Creativity is many things: making mistakes, expression, having fun, inventing, experimenting, and so much more. It can be anything you want it to be. It can be created in so many ways; through art, music, books, clothes, and more. It brings beauty into this catastrophic world. It sends a message. It can be interpreted in a various amount of ways. It. Can. Be.
How do you express your creativity? I express my creativity the same way I express who I am.
I love sketching, though it has been quite a while since I picked up a pencil. I relish in the way my pencils flow across the pages of my sketch book. I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment I get when I get the picture that’s stuck in my head onto a piece of paper, it’s a feeling that I can’t really describe. Whether I am happy with the outcome or not, I like to surround myself with my creations. I pin as much as I can onto my walls in my bedroom (even the ones that are incomplete), the others are kept in the safety of my sketch books on my small bookshelf. My best work comes when I’m listening to music, feeling strongly about something (or my emotions are just out whack), after reading a marvelous book, or even sometimes when I’m terribly bored. Now I don’t like showing people my artwork, but that’s okay because being creative doesn’t mean everyone has to see it and those that do, well those people are pretty special.
I’m just about to finish my new journey (AKA my first semester) at ASU and while I love it let me just say that it is nothing like CAC. Community college and university are on two very different levels, not that it’s a bad thing. I came into ASU thinking it was going to be just like CAC, just a tad bit harder, boy was I wrong..
“Then there was nothing, nothing at all.” – Fallen
Let me start by saying thatFallen was a sinfully delicious read. The way light and darkness are twisted together is alluring, captivating the mind to take a deeper look into this twisted love story. Covers always draw me in first and this cover was not a disappointing; sexy and creepy, with a one word title was perfection for this book.
I found the idea/story line forTrial By Fire interesting and unique; it was something new and it was something I was looking for in a book, I just didn’t realize it until I opened the pages. Once I started this adventure, I couldn’t put it down. Page after page, my mind couldn’t stop thinking ‘what’s going to happen next?!‘ I think that’s when you know it’s going to be a great read, because this book is one of my new favorites!
Alright ladies and gents, the school year is just around the corner if it hasn’t started for you already. My brother and sisters are starting on Monday and they are not too thrilled that they have to start the school year sooner than their big sister (me). I still have almost a whole month before I go back to school (yay for the college life!). While I start later and end sooner, that just means I have to put more time and energy and focus into the semester.
We all have different ways with how we stay on top of things and how we manage our time/schedules. Let me throw it out there: I am absolutely horrible with time management, definitely not one of my strong suits when it comes to school. So how do I manage it? More so going into a university where things will be a tad bit harder?
“And then I hear singing… Before the dragging. Before the screaming.” – Penny, The Bargaining
I am not a fan of scary, creepy, thrilling, or suspenseful books. I very much prefer books in the Fictional/Paranormal/Young Adult/Romance genre. I am a hopeless romantic who loves fantasy and mythical creatures so those genres call to me, like a siren calling a sailor. However, while browsing in the book section of Walmart one day, the cover to The Bargaining drew me in (though I ended up purchasing it at a Barnes & Noble). The simplicity and detail of the girl in the woods is eye-catching, as well as the fine printed “The North Woods are calling…”
