My Life

Long May She Reign by Rhiannon Thomas

“If you plan to kill me, you’d better be quick.” – Freya

Let’s get something out of the way before we begin this review: I have a thing for anything royal, paranormal, mythical, or magical. So my choice of books shouldn’t surprise anyone. Like this one, which you can tell from the title must have something to do with royalty…

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this book at first, there weren’t really any bad or good feelings towards it. It was pretty neutral, however, once I started reading I was once again sucked into a world I didn’t want t leave! I LOVED this story so much! For one, Rhiannon Thomas sure knows how to write a compelling story with interesting characters and plot twists! She was able to tie science, mystery, royalty, and just a touch of romance all together!

My absolute favorite aspect of Long May She Reign was the main character Freya. I don’t think I have ever related to a character so much before. She’s awkward, a bit insecure, has no idea what to do when it comes to boys, super introverted, and just pretty much relatable. She’s always questioning and overthinking, yet sound in her decisions. You can feel her confidence in herself grow. As I read, I was continuously wide-eyed and laughing because of how much she minded me of me. Here’s just a couple snapshots of my favorite scenes:

Enough about Freya and her amazing character quirks; I found the plot fascinating. I mean, really, twenty-third in line to the throne and literally everyone before you dies? That’s what caught my eye, Freya had no intention for the throne, I pretty sure the ten in line before her didn’t either, yet she gets it. Because she ditched a party that turned into a mass murder. Talk about luck… To top that off, people turn against her and she has no-one to trust, not even her father. There are definitely some twists and turns in this story. If you like rollercoasters, literally or figuratively, jump on and enjoy the ride. See how a queen of science rules a kingdom that doesn’t want her.

You’re Not A Regular Mom, You’re A Cool Mom

“Mom life is the best life.”

To my mom,

It can’t be easy to raise an introvert (or two, or three, or four) but congrats because you did it! I am proud of who I am and where I come from because of you. Though life is a struggle, one of the best things is that you have always accepted who I am and I honestly can’t thank you enough. Being an introvert is hard because people always ask why you aren’t this way or that, or why don’t you do this or that, and not once did you ever question me or my personality and honestly that makes you the best mom there can be.

You definitely worked hard to be where you are today and to raise your babies into the strong independent people they are today. You went through many obstacles and conquered them all, some with help which is always okay. We got into some massive arguments but they helped forge the awesome relationship that we have now. I’m so glad that you are my mom, and I love you so very much. I have a million more reasons why I love you and why you’re the best but I gotta keep this short!

For my best friend,

You are on your way to motherhood and I just know that you are going to be such an amazing mother! Not just because you are an amazing person but also because your mom is just as crazy amazing! And I can’t thank her enough for bringing you into this world because you are my parabatai (wink, wink, haha but seriously this should be our next tattoo) and I don’t know where I would be without you!

Motherhood is a journey that isn’t easy, that’s for sure. It also doesn’t end after eighteen years. Once you become a mother (in any way, shape, or form, because you don’t have to give birth to someone to be a mother), you are a mother forever. So for all the mothers, stepmothers, and mother-to-bes (like my best friend) thank you for everything that you do because you are all so amazing!

Lots of Love,

Felie Fel

Hoot Hoot Hooray!

“Her soul belongs to words and books. Every time she reads, she is home.” – found on Pinterest

I don’t know about you, but once I found out there was such a thing as boxes filled with bookish goodies I went on hunt and discovered so many of them! Each one is different from the other and located in different places and they are just so many! I had to have one! But I never got around to getting one. So I’m very excited as one great friend gifted me with a box of bookish goodies from OwlCrate. I was ecstatic, thrilled, overfilled with joy, and was not disappointed!  (more…)

Evermore by Alyson Noël

“…the only thing I can clearly remember is dying.” – Ever

Coping with death is hard, and how do you cope with the death of your entire family? Is there a right or wrong way? And how do you deal with the weird psychic powers you get waking up after?

Alyson Noël has created a world much different from the usual, its mysterious and attracting. It’s full of angst and love, death and secrets; it even mixes teenage drama and paranormal excitement. Though the paranormal part is a tad different from the usual stuff like vampires and werewolves. Noël plays with a fascinating idea that I wish I could just give away, but that would give away part of the plot!

The title, Evermore, is appealing in itself. It actually give a little foreshadowing to the story, here’s a hint: always. Always what though? Well that I can’t say. Besides that, one of the simple signs in this first installment to a six-book series that I adore are the red tulips that Ever always seems to receive. Because red tulips are reserved just for her… (more…)

Dear Sister,

“No one will be as entertained by us as us!”

Dear sister,

Do you remember those times we would fight and argue and be down right horrible to one another? How about those times where we bargained with each other to get out of doing something? Or when we would prank mom or the babies? Oh! How about that one time when you told me that you could handle drinking coffee with me late at night as I did homework? I’ll never forget that time, you little liar. We stayed up ALL night because of your sugar high.

We’ve been through quite a bit, yet we got through it with each other. I appreciate you so very much, much more than you know. You are always there for me when I need you (or don’t) and vice versa. We have a bond that no one can even begin to understand. You, my dear, are a special kind of gal. While being a mini version of mom, you are also both a little sister and big sister. That’s pretty awesome, because we get to relate on another level.

You have started the first chapter of a new book today, though life doesn’t always seem easy it does work out the way it’s supposed to. Don’t stress, don’t over think, just go and live your life the way you feel is right. Don’t worry about others and always be your cute, little, mean, and goofy self. I love you so very much and today you are finally an adult. At least legally, you’ll still my precious little sister to me. So happy birthday my wonderful darling, you have such greatness awaiting you!

Lots of Love,

Felie Fel ♥

P. S. I would appreciate it if I could have my black cardigan back and if we could FINALLY finish Gossip Girl.

A New Year, A New Journey, A New Book

“One Year = 365 Opportunities”

Last year, 2016, was quite the rollercoaster. There were great times and there were bad, the ending wasn’t what I hoped it would be but do things ever happen the way we want them to?

I did, however, learn quite a bit from this recent year. I’ve learned to open myself up to people; it’s hard yes and sometimes disappointing in the end, but so worth it. I’ve learned that you can’t trust everyone who claims to be your friend; and those who are will do everything to keep that bond. I’ve re-learned the importance of family, that in the end the arguments and fights don’t matter. Just love. Family isn’t just blood, it includes the ones you bond so closely with (like your best friend that brings you a WHOLE container of chocolates when you’re sad.)

I’m not big on the idea of “a new year, a new me” because I become a “new” me every time something major happens. I learn something new about myself every day because every day I grow. So for this new year, 2017, (more…)

We’re Like A Really Small Gang…

“Best friends are the people you can do anything and nothing with and still have the best time.”

 Dear Best Friend,

First let me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! You’re 22 today and ready to start this wonderful new chapter! You are going to go far my dear!

Second, you should know that you’re one of those people who make life better just by being in it and I’m glad I get to call you my best friend. I know that we can have our bad moments but for all those moments we get to each other there are three times as many great times we have, if not more! We are the best of the best ♥

It’s pretty funny how when we first met we didn’t realize how close we would get, we were simply acquaintances who shared a mutual friend. Then one day the universe looked at us and decided we were more than just simple acquaintances and somehow we became the best friends we are today! I love the fact that you’re always there for me, when I’m having boy troubles or stupid family drama, I know you’re just a call or text away. I love that you accept all my weirdness and just go with it when I say random things out of the blue, like “I wonder what it’s like to be a bird?” I love when we have our “adulting” days. And I find it extremely funny that many people have questioned our friendship lol remember when we went shopping for your dress and I had the bow tie on?!

Our friendship is a unique one, we can be girly and boyish and crazy and more. We can sit in our pj’s all day reading, or on Tumblr, not saying a word and still have a great time. We can have show marathons and crazy conversations no one would understand. We can communicate with just looks. We take “midnight” adventures for food. You are the “she” to my “nanigans” and I don’t know what I’d without you.

We still have our whole lives ahead of us, dreams we’re going to turn into reality, goals into achievements, and so much more. We have big events coming up too, like college graduation. I’ll be there for you every step of the way just like I know you’ll be there for me. I hope that your day is as amazing as you are girly and I’ll see you soon!

Love always,

Felie Fel

P.S. Thank you for being my best friend, I love you so much! I hope we’re best friends even after we die because then we can be ghost friends and walk through walls and scare people! (Or we can be cross roads demons together as long as my mom doesn’t find out lol)

“Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the imagination, flight to the imagination, and life to everything” – Plato

Who here hates moving? The packing and the driving and the unpacking and the reorganizing? Just the first two drive me bonkers, the last two aren’t so bad.

So recently, very recently actually, I signed a lease with a friend and moved to a small townhouse much closer to school. I’m very excited! I no longer have to wake up before the sun. An hour more of sleep makes a big difference.

So I was able to move all in one day and all in one trip. My darling cousin was kind enough to to offer his truck for all my big stuff; bed, desk, drawers, two bookshelves, you know the important stuff. (Though we were not able to get the box spring upstairs when it came time to unload everything.)

My Mom’s little Xterra held all my clothes and blankets because well they just wouldn’t fit in my car because my car was packed tight with all my books. Seriously, look:  (more…)

University vs. Community College

I’m just about to finish my new journey (AKA my first semester) at ASU and while I love it let me just say that it is nothing like CAC. Community college and university are on two very different levels, not that it’s a bad thing. I came into ASU thinking it was going to be just like CAC, just a tad bit harder, boy was I wrong..
